Marking Fabric:
My favorite way to mark fabric is with a blue wash away pen. I have used them on linen, silk, and cotton with great success. Always remember to use distilled water to remove the markings. I keep distilled water in a spray bottle so it is always handy.
Starching Fabric:
For many heirloom applications, such as decorative stitching and shark's teeth, I like my fabric to be well starched. The heirloom techniques will appear more crisp and professional if the fabric is well starched. Use 3 parts liquid starch to 1 part water and soak fabric for about 5 minutes. Remove fabric and gently squeeze out excess liquid. Hang to dry and Press while still damp.
